It’s been a really busy week and also probably the wettest October week up on the NE coast I can remember, it’s like being back in Manchester.
Anyway, after last week digging down and getting the binding, this week has been about getting the slab. Concrete was booked for Thursday, and all inspections had to be done before the pour the target was Wednesday.
Over the weekend the form work was set up and all the wood to enable the upstand to be poured at the same time as the slab,
Monday the 50mm of sand was started and Tuesday they laid the Gas Membrane (a specific requirement across all of Northumberland and a planning condition. This despite two ground investigation surveys identifying zero gas). The membrane needed to be overlapped and taped. Which was a challenge in the continuous rain. Before the end of the day the first layer of rebar was put down
Meanwhile we are still trying to get muck off the site and another 3 truck loads was removed.
Wednesday , met Ross on site, and Charlie the ASHP expert for a chat, found out that we will be allowed the grant so that’s 👍 – I think I’ll start a separate post about heating.
Ground workers continue to lay the rebar.
Structural Warranty inspector has Covid so he’s not turning up but wants photos before he’ll approve,
Gas membrane certifier turns up and complains about the joints
Building Inspector turns up and says all is ok.
4.30pm finally the Covid stricken SW inspector sends an email confirming my photos are ok and we can pour the concrete
