Timber Frame time

First thing this morning the Timber Frame was loaded onto the truck to make the journey from Gateshead to Amble.

House loaded up

On arrival it quickly became apparent that the site wasn’t ready – too much rain had delayed the scaffolding and the muck removal. So they could only get a single stack of the house unloaded and we had to send the house back into storage.

Ground workers and timber frame builders and scaffolders all got organised and started getting the site ready for another try to land the frame on Tuesday.

Tuesday came and so did a crane to lift the frame on to site unfortunately the crane broke after a single lift so the rest of the house had to go back into storage again ..

The crane before it broke ..

They did manage to get some scaffolding up, sole plate down and the drains complete so it was still a pretty good day.

Wednesday was third time lucky and finally the frame was unloaded and by the afternoon they started to build up the first floor. By Friday lunch time three sides of the first floor were up.

It seemed like a pretty good week, and real progress had been made and we were expecting a drying week ..

On the Sunday we went to get the Timelapse video only to find the camera had run out of batteries.

Sunday also saw the naming of storm 4. Debi! More rain!
