Ground floor build up

A slight improvement in the weather has enabled major progress on site with the ground floor virtually complete including the internal walls which in the main are structural and most of the joists.

We’ve downloaded video from the Timelapse camera, which had a battery issue for a couple of days.

No insulation in place yet, the frames are effectively 9 inch beams and OSB on the external facing. Internal walls are boarded with ply for additional rigidity. Where pockets have been created to the initial 200mm of Rockwool has been inserted.

Kronobuild Floor boards have been installed on for the first floor, these have a coating which protects them from the weather and will eventually be removed to created the finished floor boards.

Due to the weather and the subsequent delays, we are a little behind schedule, and our immovable target of the Windows being delivered and installed on the 22nd November is now being moved. Green Roof Structures are sorting it out, but it does mean that Ecohaus won’t be installing the windows as the next available date they have is mid Jan, and we really need to the windows installing before mid December if we are going to get back on track.

My dad and Gill visited to see the build progressing, which was the first time they’d seen the site since we’d bought it, In preparation myself and Fiona spend an hour brushing 2-3 inches of water out of the ground floor, lets hope Ross appreciates it when he arrives on Monday, but at least we didn’t get wet feet whilst giving the tour.
