After two abortive attempts at getting the windows installed, the windows arrived on site on Friday 5th, ready for the fitters from EcoHaus. The windows and doors are Triple Glazed and hence highly efficient (U-Value around about 0.7) from Internorm
Despite lots of rain over the weekend and over Sunday night (which meant my golf was cancelled), the weather miraculously become dry and the windows were unpacked and the fitting team quickly got on with their task and by lunch time the front windows were all in place and when we returned just before it got dark the team were just finishing off the front door.

The Front Door, still has a step up to it as the external floor level hasn’t been finished yet. Quite a symbolic moment as now we need a key to get into the build!
Tuesday was an even more exciting / worrying day, as the 5m triple glazed sliding doors needed to be lifted into place. Due to the upside down nature of the house, these had to be lifted to the first floor and the only way was to crane it over the top of the house. This was in three parts, the frame and the two 0.25 tonne windows pieces, which needed to be threaded through the scaffolding into the timber frame

By mid afternoon on the second day, we inspected all the windows and doors with the fitters and they handed the build back to us. Everything went remarkably well, no wind, no rain and no missing parts. The covering film is still on the windows, so just to say they aren’t white – either inside or out!

Barring a few minor issues with the parapet on the roof, the build is now water and wind proof and ready for the next stage of the build; BUT before that we have our interim Air Test to see just how airtight the structure is .. roll on Friday
